CASE STUDY
Enabling Advanced Composite Manufacturing for Skyroot Aerospace
-
India’s private space industry is entering a new era, driven by organisations developing increasingly advanced launch vehicle technologies.
-
At the forefront of this transformation is Skyroot Aerospace, an Indian space technology company developing the Vikram series of launch vehicles.
-
Skyroot’s Vikram launch vehicles make extensive use of advanced carbon-composite structures to achieve the combination of low structural weight, high strength and performance demanded by modern launch systems.
-
To strengthen its composite manufacturing infrastructure, Skyroot Aerospace required a large, aerospace-grade composite curing autoclave engineered specifically around its manufacturing requirements.
-
KRR Autoclaves was selected to engineer, manufacture, integrate and deliver the required system.
-
The result was a fully customized Ø3-metre × 12-metre aerospace autoclave capable of operation up to 10 bar pressure and 250°C, designed for demanding composite curing applications associated with Skyroot's launch-vehicle manufacturing programme.

Customer-specific visual finish
The project called for much more than pressure-vessel fabrication. Every subsystem had to work as a tightly controlled composite-processing environment.
THE KRR SOLUTION
Designed around the process. Engineered around the customer.
Pressure Vessel Engineering
Designed for repeated high-temperature and high-pressure production cycles, including engineered door, locking and safety architecture.
Engineered Air Circulation
Internal airflow designed to support controlled heat transfer and uniform processing conditions across large aerospace composite structures.
Heating & Temperature Control
Heating, thermocouple monitoring and control logic coordinated for programmable ramps, soak temperatures and cure-cycle requirements.
Vacuum Processing
Vacuum monitoring and process capability designed to support vacuum-bagged aerospace composite components during critical cure stages.
PLC / SCADA Automation
Programmable recipes for heating, pressure, vacuum, cooling, alarms, monitoring and cycle recording reduce manual intervention.
Traceability & Safety
Critical process parameters are recorded while interlocks monitor pressure, temperature, utilities and door conditions.
Each subsystem was designed as part of one integrated curing platform rather than as a collection of standalone utilities.
BUILD FOR SKYROOT
Customization went beyond technical specifications.
From process architecture and controls to auxiliary systems and final appearance, the equipment was developed specifically around the customer’s requirements.
Even the external finish was customized to complement Skyroot Aerospace’s selected theme and facility environment — reinforcing a simple principle: when we say custom-built, we mean the complete system.
