India entered a defining new chapter in commercial spaceflight when Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched Vikram-1, the country’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
The successful maiden mission, named Aagaman, demonstrated India’s rapidly growing capability to design, manufacture and launch advanced space systems through private-sector innovation. Vikram-1 is a four-stage launch vehicle designed to provide responsive and dedicated access to space for small satellites.
